Liis Org: body fitness and life balance

Liis Org talks about the body fitness journey, training, nutrition and balancing work, family and stage shape.

In this story, Liis Org talks candidly about how a single click in Finland grew into a body fitness journey, 5th place at the European Championships and an everyday life where training, work and family all have to fit into one rhythm. This isn’t a story about a miracle diet. It’s a story about discipline, trust and why stage shape is not the same thing as an ordinary “get in shape for summer” plan.

Why Liis Org chose body fitness

Liis was 28 years old and 162 cm tall when talking to Fitness.ee about the fitness journey. Liis didn’t want to give a separate figure for body weight. The reason was simple: the mirror image and overall shape say more than the number on the scale. Especially when muscle mass plays a big role.

Liis came to fitness in 2013 in Finland. At the time, fitness was everywhere there: on magazine covers, on social media and in gyms. At some point, that famous click went off in Liis’s head. Liis wanted to be on stage.

In February 2014, Liis began working with a coach. By the autumn of that same year, Liis was already standing on a competition stage. The start came in bikini fitness, because it seemed like an easier place to begin. The coach, however, saw right away that body fitness suited Liis’s build better.

After the first season came half a year of off-season development. The goal was to build a body that was stronger and better suited to body fitness. Looking back, Liis says that switching categories was the right decision. Sometimes the hardest thing isn’t pushing harder but trusting the right person.

How Liis Org trains and eats

Liis’s training doesn’t follow one and the same pattern. The plan has included three different types of week: a heavy week, a pump week and a mix of the two. On top of that, a recovery week is part of the plan, not a sign of laziness. That’s an important difference.

The idea behind every workout is simple: be better than in the previous one. Not necessarily a heavier weight or a longer set every time. Sometimes a better workout means cleaner technique, better focus or knowing when to hold back.

When it comes to nutrition, a clear system works well for Liis. During the competition diet, Liis follows the coach’s plan exactly. The instructions are written down in black and white and stuck on the fridge door. This takes the constant bargaining out of your head: can I, how much can I, does this fit?

There are five meals a day. The menu isn’t made up of any miracle foods but of ordinary foods that you can eat outside the competition season too. The difference is in the strictness. On the competition diet, the rules are very precise. In the off-season, eating is healthy but more relaxed.

A simple truth: a fitness competitor’s competition diet is not the same thing as an ordinary person’s plan for getting in shape. The two shouldn’t be mixed up. If your goal is to feel better, get stronger and fit into your clothes more comfortably, you don’t need to live like an athlete heading for the stage.

Body fitness, achievements and balance

Speaking of numbers, 5th place at the European Championships was a huge achievement for Liis. It came in the second season of body fitness. Being the fifth woman in Europe is a result whose value may even grow over time, because only later do you truly realize how strong the field standing next to you was.

But Liis doesn’t measure everything in medals and placings. Just as important has been finding balance between lifestyle, work and family. When sport also becomes work you love, everyday effort feels different. That doesn’t mean everything is easy. It means the hard work has a purpose.

Liis has had a sporting background since childhood. Liis started with athletics at the age of six. During the school years, skiing, swimming, football, volleyball, running and other sports were added. At the end of basic school, Liis focused more on the javelin throw and graduated from the Audentes Sports Gymnasium in that discipline.

A background like that teaches you to know your body. It also teaches you that success doesn’t come from a single workout. It builds up over years, from small choices and repetitions that nobody else often sees.

Liis Org and practical lessons for getting in shape

What motivates Liis? The results of Liis’s own work. Looking in the mirror and knowing where you’ve come from can be very strong fuel. Not just because of how you look, but because you recognize your own effort.

Relaxing, on the other hand, is very simple for Liis. Phone on silent, a cup of tea, calm music, woolen socks, a blanket and the sofa. No big ritual. Just a moment when you don’t have to prove anything.

As for supplements, Liis’s menu has included EAA, glutamine, vitamins, a pre-workout drink, BCAA, a recovery protein drink, ZMA and Omega 3. What matters here isn’t the list itself but the principle: supplements come after the plan, food, training and sleep. They don’t replace any of them.

If anyone wants to get into better shape, it always comes back to the same trio: nutrition, training and rest. Liis also recommends getting a proper coach whose knowledge you trust. And one more thing: do it for yourself. Not for a picture, a comment or anyone else’s expectations.

FAQ

Is body fitness suitable for beginners?

A beginner can start with strength training and a good eating routine, but competing requires a coach and a longer plan. Stage shape is not everyday shape.

Is the number on the scale the most important thing in fitness?

No. Weight is only one metric. Shape, muscle mass, how you feel, performance and your reflection in the mirror often give a much better picture.

What can the average person take away from Liis’s story?

A clear plan, consistency and rest work better than panic diets. The most important thing is to find a system you can actually stick with.
