Bikini fitness winner shares her thoughts
Egle Eller-Nabi, who won the bikini fitness category at yesterday’s Estonian Cup, shares her thoughts on her blog, Egle’s Training Blog.
Estonian Cup in bodybuilding and fitness – a bikini fitness win
A successful Estonian Cup in bodybuilding and fitness is behind me – first place in bikini fitness against strong competition! This is my first competitive season, and this was competition number 3 – two first-place finishes and one third-place finish at the Latvian Open Championships. I’m so happy and still amazed that I’ve managed to achieve these results. Yesterday’s competition qualified me for the Baltic Match next weekend.
Thank you to everyone who cheered me on and supported me on my way to this win. There are sooo many of you! Every little thing counts! Every kind word motivates me to keep competing and training.
All the girls competing in my category are equally beautiful and put a lot of effort into what they do. Ours is the most subjective of all the categories. Every tiny detail matters – makeup, competition tan, hair, bikini, physique, stage presentation and so on. My friend Kairit Tuhkanen takes care of my makeup. I’m incredibly grateful to her for her beautiful makeup and her patience. I always get nervous before competitions, so I start telling her how to do my makeup and arguing with her, too. I should just sit in that chair with my eyes closed and open them when she’s finished. I know Kairit’s stage makeup is fantastic! It’s a good thing she ignores me and does it her way!
As for the other girls, believe it or not, we’re friends backstage. We help each other apply our competition tan and support one another. We’re only rivals on stage. It sounds unbelievable, but that’s how it is. I think we all know that we actually deserve to win equally. One of us wins one time, and someone else wins at the next competition. We’re all beautiful, but we can’t all win at once. I actually feel a little stressed about my surprisingly good results. Kairit also tells me I’m not quite right in the head. “What are you stressing about?! Coming first?!” The truth is, this is all so new to me that I don’t quite know how to react. It would probably be asking a lot to expect me to calmly accept yet another trophy without batting an eyelid – as if I were buying yogurt at the shop, for example. I’m just emotional!
So my dream of starting this morning with pancakes and doing the same every day for a week has fallen through. Still, I’m actually happy to have qualified for the next major competition. After the competition, I got my fill of carbohydrates from pasta and ice cream, and now I’m ready to follow my nutrition plan again.
With only a week until my next competition again, I need to exfoliate my competition tan off quickly and get my hard workouts done in the first half of the week. Today, I plan to spend almost the whole day outdoors in the sunshine with my child, enjoying the beautiful spring weather.
Wishing you all plenty of sunshine!
