Estonia’s victory in 2011
19.-21. November 2011: Nokia Concert Hall is buzzing with bodybuilders and tanned-to-bronze athletes. The World Classic Bodybuilding Championships and the World Cup in bodybuilding, fitness and bodyfitness are underway. There are 120 athletes from 34 countries around the world.
It has been 4 months since the competitions. The initial results were officially recorded and have stood until now. But, as at every bodybuilding competition, athletes underwent doping tests at these events too. The full summary in English was available on the IFBB’s official website: HERE

EKFL covered the cost of 20 doping tests at the World Championships and World Cup in Tallinn. This is the highest number of tests conducted at major championship events in recent years. Samples were also taken from 5 Estonian athletes (Taavi Koovit, Janar Rückenberg, Imre Vähi, Merike Sula, Oleg Anissimov). All samples tested negative.
Who fell? Who emerged victorious?: Estonia
All the Estonian athletes’ samples tested negative, but among the other athletes tested, 7 tested positive. The overall champion from Bulgaria lost his titles: Konstantin Paskalev returned a positive doping test. He was stripped of both the world title in the -171cm category and the overall classic bodybuilding title. As a result, classic bodybuilder Raigo Kuusnõmm, previously in 5th place, moved up to 4th.
The new overall world champion in classic bodybuilding for 2011 is Myung Sub KIM (South Korea). Taavi Koovit moves up two places in the overall standings to second.
In the -175cm category, 4th-placed classic bodybuilder Mariusz Balazinski of Poland also tested positive. Imre Vähi therefore moved up to 4th place. Spain’s Fernando Gornals, who finished 6th, is also on the list of offenders and has been disqualified.
In the -180cm classic bodybuilding height category, silver medalist Murat Demir of Germany was disqualified following the doping test results. Marti Taru, who competed in the same height category, consequently moved up a place to finish 8th.
In the classic bodybuilding category for athletes 180cm and taller, both the gold and silver medalists tested positive. Poland’s Jerzy Pisulski and Turkey’s Ersin Adakli were disqualified. So congratulations, Janar Rückenberg: you have won the bronze medal in the 180cm and over height category at the World Classic Bodybuilding Championships!
Kristina Koroljak is the World Cup winner
A surprise: the women’s fitness winner at the World Cup, Tariana Dvortsova, failed a doping test. This moves Estonia’s Kristina Koroljak into first place in women’s fitness at the World Cup!
