The 4th Estonian Championships in Fitness Free Routine were also held as part of the Tervex fair.
Turnout was modest, to put it mildly, but hopefully the number of participants will grow year after year. There were 2x as many men as last year, though. That means two competitors.
First on stage was Leo Täht, who stood out with a distinctive style. A guitar added charm to the routine as a show element and was sent flying very effectively, but from what I hear, the guitar’s journey did not end happily for everyone in the audience.
Second on stage was Riho Halgmaa, whose job was to defend the title. With a superb performance and a physique polished down to the last muscle fiber, Riho successfully defended the title. Riho had no guitar, but did have a great tie. If you ask how and why Riho won, I’ll answer with considerable confidence: it was the nice tie.
The women’s presentation, logically, generated more excitement.
First on stage was Krista Lukner. A beautiful, pleasant, nice routine. It was perhaps reminiscent of Leo’s: Leo’s guitar flew out of hand in a magnificent arc, while Olga’s hat flew off very effectively. In short, there were flying objects aplenty at the competition.
Second on stage was Kai-Riin Bachman, who stood out with a fast-paced routine, superb flexibility and good condition. Presumably the combination of these three had an effect on the judges too, because Bachman took the win home.
Third to perform was Ene Ottokar, who offered serious competition to Kai-Riin Bachman, so the judges had a real headache deciding which to prefer. A nicely constructed routine and good condition – every prerequisite to win next year.
Fourth on stage was Reval-Sportlane’s Olga Savõ¸, for whom this was probably a debut performance. Coach Dagmar Neem had done good work. But the movements could perhaps have been a little smoother and more playful.
And the last and only competitor in the open category was Dennis James. A superb performance, with a fair amount of muscle mass too, but the condition could have used a bit more work. And since there was no competition, the win came very easily to Dennis James. Whether Mr. James will return next year to defend the title, only time will tell.
Of course, all the competitors deserved first place, but the final ranking turned out like this:

Riho Halgma TÜASK

Women:
1. Kai-Riin Bachmann Coral Club
2. Ene Ottokar Fittest
