Raido Kodanipork crowned Estonian mountain biking champion

Raido Kodanipork wins gold at the Estonian mountain biking championships in Karksi-Nuia, with Sigvard Kukk taking silver and Priit Raudsepp bronze.

Raido Kodanipork (Arctic Sport Club) won gold in the elite men’s category at the Estonian mountain biking championships in Karksi-Nuia. Kodanipork finished second in the 48 km race, which lasted more than two hours, but the fastest rider was Latvia’s Oleg Melehs. Sigvard Kukk (Kalev Chocolate Team – Merida) took silver, finishing 32 seconds behind Kodanipork, while Priit Raudsepp (Alexela Pro Team) claimed bronze, a full 5.36 behind.

They were followed by Allan Oras (+8.12), Urmas Välbe (+8.49) and Oskari Kargu (+11.10). One of the Olympic hopefuls, Alges Maasikmets, did not finish.

Grete Treier won the elite women’s race, beating Maaris Meier by a lap over the 36 km course. Kairi Schmidt, Helen Schmidt and Laura Lepasalu won the titles in the girls’ age categories.

Taavi Selder won the men’s U-23 category, with Priit Prous and Artur Gornischeff finishing more than a lap behind. Gabriel Leppik, Silver Schultz and Tanel Kangert won the boys’ M14, M16 and M18 categories respectively. Rego Tohvrel, Are Mets and Alar Krull took first place in the various masters age categories.
