26th Estonian Powerlifting Championships

Results from the 26th Estonian powerlifting championships in Tartu, where 100 athletes competed over two days and broke Estonian records 88 times.

The 26th Estonian Powerlifting Championships took place on 19 and 20 March 2005 at the University of Tartu sports hall.
A total of 100 athletes took to the platform over the two days.

The top three overall in the youth division were:
1.Alo Kauber SK JõuMees
2.Vladimir Kütt TÜ ASK
3.Erki Koll Tartu MV Sports Club

Saaremaa SK JõuMees was the top team, followed by the University of Tartu ASK and Kohtla-Järve Muskel-Sport. The best coach was Jaan Salu (Saaremaa SK JõuMees).
The youth lifters broke Estonian records 36 times in total.

The top three overall in the junior division were:
1.Arvo Kaljapulk TÜ ASK
2.Rauno Heinla TÜ ASK
3.Raigo Raamat SK JõuMees

The top girls overall were:
1.Kristiina Purju Halliste municipality
2.Ilona Vaitkovski SK Ringi

The University of Tartu ASK was the top team, followed by Kohtla-Järve Muskel-Sport and Saaremaa SK JõuMees. The juniors broke Estonian records 10 times in total. The best coach was Eduard Kaljapulk, coach of the overall junior champion.

The top three women overall were:
1.Inna Terasmaa TÜ ASK
2.Lilian Matonina Tallinn Police Sports Association
3.Mai-Roos Silla SK Jõumees

Pärnu Ringi SK won the team competition, followed by the Tallinn Police Sports Association and the University of Tartu ASK. The women also broke numerous Estonian records. Inna Terasmaa did so 7 times, while Lilian Matonina and Tiiu Kimber each did so 6 times. In total, the women broke records 23 times.
The best women’s coach was Rain Karu of the University of Tartu ASK.

The top three overall in the men’s division were:
1.Margus Silbaum Tallinn Police Sports Association
2.Sergei Baumer Kohtla-Järve Muskel Sport
3.Aivo Nurmine University of Tartu ASK

The University of Tartu ASK won the team competition, followed by Kohtla-Järve Muskel Sport and Saaremaa SK JõuMees. The men broke Estonian records 8 times in total.
The best coach was Heino Silbaum, coach of Margus Silbaum.

Overall, the competition was a success. The standard of competition is clearly reflected in the records, which were broken 88 times in total.
The Estonian Powerlifting Federation thanks everyone who supported the event.
The main sponsors deserve a mention here: the City of Tartu, Kaare Pagar, Robocop, Realsport, Hansamarks, Wilde Irish Pub, Pubi Pool Kuus and the University of Tartu Academic Sports Club.

The Estonian Powerlifting Federation will publish the competition results tables for readers within two weeks.
The final results will be confirmed once the doping test results are available.
