Aivis Ohtla took two wins in Riga!
Last weekend, the fifth round of the Baltic Championship and the Nez Racing Championship series was held at the Biekernieki circuit in Riga.
The LX Motorsport Liiwi Racing team had as many as four drivers representing it in Riga last weekend. Besides Aivis Ohtla, Martin Merisaar and Raimo Kull, this time Renee Pohl, well known from rally stages, also started in a Honda Civic Type-R in LX Motorsport colors.
In qualifying, Aivis Ohtla set the fastest lap time in the Super 2000 class, with Indrek Sepp second and Martin Merisaar third. Renee Pohl, who was starting on a circuit for the second time, took fourth place on the grid.
In the Super 2000 standings, Aivis Ohtla (Honda Accord) won both races, with Indrek Sepp (Audi A4) finishing second. In the first race, Martin Merisaar was third in Super 2000 and Renee Pohl fourth. In the second race, Merisaar drove off the track on the warm-up lap and never got to start, while Pohl retired because of a broken driveshaft. The overall win in the Riga round went to Aivis Ohtla, with Indrek Sepp second and Martin Merisaar third.
The next round of the Baltic Championship and the NEZ Racing Championship series will be held this weekend in Finland.
NB! Aivis Ohtla is a major sponsor of the Estonian Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation and the Estonian Powerlifting Federation, and a fine athlete himself too!
