Imre Vähi and Kristina Koroljak – the top bodybuilding athletes of 2013
The year’s top athletes were honored on December 30 at a joint year-end celebration hosted by the Estonian Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation and Fitness.ee. Imre Vähi was named male athlete of the year, while Kristina Koroljak took the female athlete of the year title.
Imre Vähi (FitLife sports club) was named male athlete of the year. This autumn, Imre won the classic bodybuilding title at the Estonian Championships and finished II overall behind Kiivikas. He was also in excellent shape a week later at the Nordic Championships, where he took first place in both his height category and the overall classic bodybuilding competition from a field of 6 competitors. Imre ended his season with IV place at the World Championships in Austria. These outstanding results earned him the male athlete of the year title.
This year’s female athlete of the year was Kristina Koroljak (Reval-Sport). Kristina Koroljak’s final year in the junior category got off to a successful start, and that success continued throughout the season. In Estonia, Kristina won both the cup competition in spring and the Estonian Championships in autumn. She also won at the open championships in Latvia and performed well at the World Ladies Cup. This year, Koroljak won the overall title at the Junior European Championships and her category in women’s fitness at the European Championships. Kristina Koroljak also won silver medals at both the Junior World Championships and the Women’s Fitness World Championships this year!
People’s choice: Anastasija Žerdetskaja (Reval-Sport). A total of 527 people took part in the public vote. Anastasija Žerdetskaja, who competed in both bikini fitness and bodyfitness this year, received the most votes, with 97.

14 athletes competed at six major championships (European and World Championships). Five athletes brought home 11 medals for Estonia.

Specialist training courses for bodybuilding and fitness coaches (levels I and II) took place in Tallinn on 15. – 17. and 22. – 24.03. and 13. – 15. and 20. – 22.09.
Professional qualification exams for coaches were held on 30.03 and 5.10. In spring, 39 people took the exam, of whom 13 passed, or 33 %. (Level I 31/11, level II 5/1, level III 3/1) In autumn, 35 people took the exam, of whom 14 passed, or 40 %. (Level I 29/11, level II 4/2, level III 2/1).
The EKFL training camp took place in Orissaare on 15. – 21.07. A bikini fitness and men’s physique training course and the Saaremaa Open Cup competition were held.
Developing young athletes
Youth training groups ran at the Reval-Sport and
Sparta clubs in Tallinn and the FitLife club in Tartu.
Fighting doping
At EKFL’s request, AS Estonian Anti-Doping carried out 3 out-of-competition tests. Two athletes – Ahti and Nikolai – refused testing and received 2-year competition bans (12.06.2013 – 11.06.2015). Argo Väli’s doping test was negative. Siim Veri tested negative at the Estonian Championships, as did Imre Uibokand and Ott Kiivas at the Nordic Championships.
