After a half-year break, trainers once again had the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge before the licensing committee. Commenting on the assessments held in Pirita, committee chairman and EKFL president ARNOLD TOKKO said he was generally pleased with what he had seen.
The standard is good. We didn’t see people failing in droves as we did last time. Of course, we are currently in a so-called transition period, with requirements becoming tougher for license applicants too. Those who have already passed can safely say they won’t regret it. Nevertheless, everyone needs to keep updating their knowledge simply to maintain their standards. Indrek Otsus’s materials are a useful resource, and we will soon make them available on the Amazon portal. All trainers will then be able to find out what they need to know before taking the exam. The materials also point readers to relevant sources.
Estonia currently has fifty licensed gym trainers. They were recently joined by such well-known names as Janek Gröön from Viljandi, Margus Silbaum from Kareda municipality and Tanel Toomela from Pärnu (all initially awarded level II), as well as Nikolai Kornõshev from Status Ferrum, who qualified a level above them.
As we were typing these lines, we received news that our bodybuilding and fitness championships, taking place in less than a month, will be held at the Sakala Center in Tallinn, rather than at Salme as previously announced. The date remains October 13.
