Trainer of the week: Ragnar Neudorf

Meet Ragnar Neudorf, personal trainer at My Fitness: the path from law to coaching, a training philosophy and the courses behind the work.

Nädala treener – Ragnar Neudorf

I graduated from Saue Gymnasium. After finishing secondary school, I went on to study business law, graduating in 2006. I then entered a master’s program in communication management at Akadeemia Nord.

I first came into contact with sport in primary school, where I did judo. In middle and high school, I mainly did athletics, boxing and volleyball. Since injuries came easily in these sports, I took a step back, and during university I started training regularly in the gym. My interest kept growing, and I wanted to get to know the field more thoroughly.

I completed the EFTE basic, foundation and advanced courses and, alongside my main job (at the time in probation services), started working as a gym trainer at Keila Health Center, where I stayed for one year. It became increasingly clear that law was not for me, and I devoted myself fully to coaching at Arctic Sport Club, where I worked for about a year and a half.

I currently work as a personal trainer at the sports club My Fitness, where I do both personal training and cardiac stress tests. I also give people nutrition advice. As for group training, I currently teach Cardio Own Zone and, at Arctic, also circuit training.

As a personal trainer, I like to keep improving myself, and I grab every kind of course at the first opportunity. In my work, I follow the principle that a person must first learn to sense their own body in order to avoid injuries, then muscle balance needs to be established, and only after that, if desired, can they start on more specific exercises. I am also convinced that the average person’s training does not have to be monotonous or rely solely on bodybuilding principles; it should definitely include exercises that develop coordination and strengthen the muscles that stabilize the body.

I hold a Level I coaching certificate from EOK and EKFL, which I obtained in 2006. In addition, I have completed a massage course at M.I. Massage School and hold a professional certificate in Classic Swedish massage.
Among the international courses I have attended, the most notable are those by S. Singelton and G. Aquilina, based on functional training. I apply the knowledge gained from them in my daily work today.
