Alex-Edward Raus wins overall Estonian powerlifting title!
At the Estonian Powerlifting Championships, which concluded yesterday, 30 March, the overall title went to Alex-Edward Raus, who achieved the highest-ever score of 593.70 Wilks points!
Weighing less than 105 kilograms, Alex-Edward Raus squatted 387.5 kg, benched 257.5 kg and deadlifted 345 kg. His extraordinary 990 kg total set a new Estonian record. His squat and bench press were also new Estonian records. Alex also attempted a 400-kilogram squat but narrowly missed the lift.
Alex’s rival Rait Sagor finished second overall, squatting 355 kg, benching 255 and deadlifting 360 kg. Rait’s deadlift set a new Estonian record in the -105 kg weight class. Third place went to Elar Kraav, who squatted 360.5 kg, benched 225 and deadlifted 360.5. Elar set Estonian records in both the squat and deadlift, with his 360.5 kg deadlift also marking the heaviest weight ever officially deadlifted! Estonian records were also set by Gunnar Kuusnõmm (a 210kg bench press in the -74kg class) and Rait Veski (a 290.5kg deadlift in the -83kg class), while Siim Raja set a junior record (a 295.5 kg deadlift).
The top female lifter was Marianna Bogdanova, who competed in the -57 kg class and squatted 150kg, benched 75 and deadlifted 170kg. Second place went to Laura Laan in the -72kg class, with a 177.5kg squat, a 101kg bench press and a 451 kg deadlift. Laura set Estonian records in all three lifts and the total. Bronze went to Monika Aus, who weighed 46 kilograms. She squatted 106kg, benched 55 and deadlifted 141 kg. Monika set Estonian open and masters records in the squat, deadlift and total. Siret Sügis, competing in the -63 class, also set a new record with a 162.5 kg deadlift and finished fourth overall.
In the youth division, Andri Eric Külaviir took the overall title (220kg+122.5kg+225kg). Second place went to Agris Reppo (175kg+137.5kg+195kg). Raimond Pääru finished third (175kg+145kg+190kg). Elise Luik won gold in the female youth division (100kg+47.5kg+102.5kg).
In the junior division, Alex-Edward Raus claimed the overall title (387.5kg+257.5kg+345kg). Siim Raja finished second (280kg+190kg+295.5kg), with Harri Olak in third (200kg+170kg+275kg).
