Why the mirror can lie to you
Have you ever considered that your body weight could be perfectly “normal”… while your health actually isn’t?
Most people only measure their weight. Some count calories. Some check the mirror to see whether their belly looks smaller or bigger. But the markers that truly drive your health are almost never measured.
And that’s a problem.
Because two people can weigh exactly the same, yet one body may be inflamed, worn out and insulin resistant, while the other person feels energetic, strong and healthy.
Similar on the outside, completely different on the inside.
So what should you actually measure?
Blood sugar levels (fasting glucose and HbA1c (glycated hemoglobin), which reflects your average blood sugar reading over the past 2-3 months) and insulin.
If you want to know whether your metabolism is working for you or against you, start with blood sugar and insulin.
These markers quickly give you a good idea of how your body responds to carbohydrates. If your blood sugar constantly swings up and down and your insulin is high, your body’s fat burning is essentially running with the handbrake on.
You can train. You can eat less. But your body won’t let go of fat.
High blood sugar also often causes:
- energy swings
- sugar cravings
- tiredness after eating
- fat accumulation around the abdomen
- higher levels of inflammation in the body
What makes this especially tricky is that these problems can exist for years before a doctor finally says the word “diabetes.”
Analyze your facial skin, too.
One of the most interesting mirrors of your health is actually your skin. It reacts very quickly to:
- stress
- lack of sleep
- blood sugar fluctuations
- inflammation
- nutrient deficiencies
- aging
And now you can actually measure it. The Frillice app has a new facial skin analysis called Säraskänner.
You simply take a photo of your face… and in about 10–20 seconds you find out how old your skin really looks.
The system also analyzes a further 11 different skin parameters:
- wrinkles
- pores
- pigmentation
- hydration
- dark circles under the eyes
- skin texture
- redness
- and much more
In other words, you no longer have to just look in the mirror and wonder: “Is my skin getting better or worse?” Now you can actually measure and track it.
And that matters. What you don’t measure, you can’t change.
Inflammation: the silent problem in your body
The third thing I would definitely recommend measuring is the level of inflammation in your body.
Chronic inflammation doesn’t only mean disease. Often it simply means that your body is running in constant stress mode.
The consequences can include:
- poor recovery
- joint pain
- fatigue
- slower fat burning
- poor sleep
- skin aging
- brain fog
And the worst part? Many people consider it “normal aging.” In reality, it may not be about age at all. It may be about how your body functions day to day.
